Engine start from the auxiliary power supply

At start of the engine do not use auxiliary aerosols!

It is necessary to observe an order of connection of the auxiliary starting battery, otherwise there is a danger of poisoning with the gases which were allocated in the course of a charging. Besides, there is a danger of a travmirovaniye owing to possible explosion of the storage battery or damage of onboard electronics of the car.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The cross-section section of a starting cable for petrol engines in volume to 2.5 l should make not less than 16 mm2 (there correspond to diameter about 5 mm). For diesel engines or petrol engines in volume more than 2.5 l the cross-section section should make not less than 25 mm2. The provided data belong to the car with the discharged storage battery. The cross-section section is, as a rule, specified on cable packing. It is recommended to buy a starting cable with the isolated clips section 25 mm2 as such cable will be suitable for engines and smaller volume.
2. Both battery rooms of the battery should have tension of 12 Century.
3. The discharged storage battery can already freeze at temperature - 10°С. Before accession of a starting cable the frozen storage battery should be surely defrozen.
4. The discharged storage battery should be switched on in a car network according to the instruction.
5. Check level of electrolit of the discharged battery room of the battery. If necessary add the distilled water.
6. Cars should be at distance from each other, excluding their contact. Otherwise, after connection of positive poles the chain will become isolated.
7. On both cars tighten parking brakes. The lever of gear shifting establish in the provision of a neutral course, at automatic transmission establish the selector in the provision of a parking of "R".
8. Switch off everything consumers of the electric power.
9. The engine of the car feeding the storage battery, in the course of start-up should work at single turns surely. Thus, generator damage owing to tension throws in the course of start is excluded.
10. Do not allow near the storage battery of availability of fire or a burning cigaret as in the course of a charge from the storage battery combustible gases are allocated.
11. Watch that the starting cable was not damaged by rotating details of the engine, for example, the cooling fan.

The starting cable joins in the following sequence:

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The cable of red color joins a positive pole in an impellent compartment of the started car.

Previously cast away a cover. If the started car is not the BMW car of the 5th series, the cable joins a positive pole of the storage battery.

2. Other end of a red cable joins a positive pole of a feeding battery room of the battery.

3. The black cable joins a weight point on an amortization rack of the feeding car.

It is best of all to use for this purpose the metal part which has been reliably connected to an impellent compartment. If the car is not the BMW car of the 5th series, the cable joins a negative pole of the storage battery.

4. Other end of a black cable joins a weight point on the right amortization rack of the fed car. If the fed car is not the BMW car of the 5th series, attach a cable to a weight point. It is best of all to use for this purpose the metal detail connected by a carving to the block of cylinders. Under adverse circumstances, in case of accession of a cable to a negative pole of the discharged battery room of the battery because of formation of a spark and allocation of combustible gas the battery can blow up.

Contact of plugs of a starting cable among themselves after accession of cables is not allowed. For this reason positive plugs should not concern weight points (a body or the chassis).

5. Accession points for cars with the storage battery in an impellent compartment:

Connect wires for car start from an auxiliary source in an order specified an illustrations by numbers (pay attention that the wire going from the negative plug of the auxiliary battery, is not connected to the negative plug of the sat-down battery)

1 — a positive pole (+), the fed storage battery (And)
2 — a positive pole (+) feeding battery room of the battery (In)
3 — a negative pole (-) feeding battery room of the battery (In)
4 — a point of weight (X) on the started car.

Start the car engine (the discharged storage battery) on single turns. At start a starter include not more long 10 with as owing to big electricity consumption clips and a cable can be warmed up. Between separate start-up do a break not less than 30 pages.

Be not declined over the storage battery. Danger of poisoning!

At BMW cars before shutdown of a starting cable include lighting, heating of back glass and the maximum step of the fan of a heater to exclude emergence of throws of tension from a tension regulator to consumers.

After start of the engine disconnect cables in return sequence: at first a black cable (-) at the started car, then at feeding. The red cable (+) is disconnected at first at the feeding car, then at the fed.
