Removal and DME control unit installation

Each control unit is programmed by certain values. The control unit depending on a condition of the engine obtains various data from sensors. These values are compared to the values containing in memory of the block. On the basis of comparison the block gives out the corresponding managing directors of team. It is possible to enter new values into the block, i.e. to "train" it.

If the control unit does not receive more than one hour a food (it is removed or is disconnected the storage battery), the data received as a result of training, are lost.

At repeated commisioning of the block or installation new it is necessary to enter new data into system. This process after start can lead to unstable operation of the engine and hindrances at movement in a mode of compulsory idling. It is necessary to pass some minutes on the car with change by speed that all values in the block were adjusted in compliance with an engine condition.

After installation of the new control unit it is necessary for coding and programming that is carried out by BMW firm. The special device of diagnostics/input is for this purpose necessary. If it is possible, pass on the car with the old control unit and then on the warmed-up engine establish the new device. It accelerates process of setup of the block.


1. At removal of the control unit it is recommended to deduce values from memory of malfunctions on HUNDRED BMWs. It allows to reveal malfunctions, address to the Section Memory of malfunctions.

2. Disconnect a cable of weight of the storage battery. The battery is in a luggage carrier behind the right lateral facing.

It is necessary to observe the instructions provided in the Section Removal and installation of the storage battery

3. Remove a filter box in an impellent compartment behind on the right that it was possible to reach electronics box, address to the Section Removal and installation of a drive of a screen wiper/cover.

4. Unscrew bolts of fastening and disconnect a cover from the block of safety locks.

5. Rasstykuyte shtekerny connection, having opened a clip. Address to an accompanying illustration.

6. Take out the control unit from clips. Bolts of fastening of clips it is not necessary to turn on.

On cars from AT about the DME control unit there is one more block.


1. Upon purchase of the new control unit it is necessary to know number and the coding of the old. It is for this purpose recommended to take it with itself.
2. Insert the control unit, join shtekerny connection. Close a connection stopper.
3. Establish covers.
4. Establish the storage battery.
5. If the control unit was disconnected more than one hour or the new block is established: Warm up the engine to working temperature. Pass about 10 mines with variable speed. Thus the control unit will obtain necessary data.
