Charging of the storage battery

Points 6, 11-14 do not belong to low-served storage batteries with which BMW cars of the 5th series are equipped. It is necessary to observe recommendations about operation of low-served batteries.

Never on close the storage battery накоротко, i.e. do not connect among themselves (+) and (-). At short circuit the battery can overheat and burst. Do not shine the battery with an open flame. The electrolit is poisonous, do not allow its hit in eyes, on skin or clothes. At electrolit hit plentifully wash out the struck place water.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Before a charging of the battery disconnect from it positive (+) and negative (-) cables. At first the negative cable is disconnected.
2. Before a charging of the battery check electrolit level, if necessary add electrolit.
3. If the battery froze, before a charge give the chance to it to thaw. The charged battery freezes at temperature - 65°С, the semi-charged battery freezes at temperature - 12°С.
4. If the battery a long time was discharged, completely it cannot be charged or in general it is impossible to charge. In this case to charge the battery it is necessary a small current during longer time. After a charge it is necessary to check electrolit density.
5. Before a charge of the battery check its tension, address to the Section Check of the storage battery.
6. Turn out from the battery of a stopper and put them on openings. It will exclude hit of splashes of electrolit on a paint and varnish covering, providing at the same time possibility leaving the gases which were formed at a charge.
7. Charge the battery only in well aired room. At a charge of the battery established on the car open a trunk lid.
8. At a normal charging the current makes about 10 % of capacity of the battery. (At capacity of 50 Ach the current of a charge makes, thus, 5 And). Charge time approximately makes 10 hours.
9. A positive pole of the battery (+) connect to a positive pole (+), a negative pole (-) with a negative pole (-) the charger.
10. The electrolit temperature at a charge should not exceed +55°С. Otherwise interrupt process or reduce value of a current of a charge.
11. The charging of the battery should be carried out until gases and also density of electrolit and tension are allocated do not increase during three following one after another measurements with an interval in 1 hour.
12. After a charging check electrolit level, if necessary add the distilled water.
13. Check electrolit density. If the electrolit density in one of sections essentially differs from density in others (for example, in five sections density makes 1.26 g/ml, and in the sixth section of 1.18 g/ml), the battery is faulty and should be replaced.
14. Let's leave during 20 mines to gases, then close jams.

It is impossible to start the engine at the disconnected storage battery.
